"My name is Nathaniel Benneton Grey. I'm from Washington, DC. Northwest. Uptown. I'm from the capital of the most powerful country on the earth. My story, is one of the greatest stories of all time. I present to you, an Uptown Story."
With the new album, Uptown Story, Nate Gski gives a detailed narration of what it was like growing up in Northwest DC. He uses classical hip hop sounds throughout the album, which pays homage to DC's own, DABS. The album is a 3BWX SoundWave Production with beats from 3BWX, Tony Kill, Fat Kneel, and HNIC. The album also features DC's Anastasia Antoinette, Afrovelvet, and AIVA Redflower.
Mixing the classic sounds of hip hop, from rappers like Tupac to DMX, with the distinctive underground sound of Uptown DC, Nate G., a renaissance rapper, has, since 2001, been the embodiment of DC's sound and unique music culture.
Born and raised in the diamond city, the now rap superhero, Nathaniel Benneton Grey, has released two mixtapes, with his last LP being 2MYOGs. The LP, produced by AB The Pro, showcases Grey's impeccable flow and "way with words."
The young rapper has performed on over 100 shows in DC, Maryland, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, and Atlanta collectively. He's opened for popular artists like Cappadonna, Tabi Bonney, Talib Kweli, and Dead Prez, and his presence continues to grow as Grey surfaces from the underground DC scene to the forefront of the city.
